Dear parents,
Let's take a look at some of the activities the children were busy with for the past two weeks during developmental play.
At the Art table, the children explored the Papier-mâché technique to create their own tissue box mail. They pasted pieces of tissue paper on their tissue boxes with wet glue and let it dry overnight. When their tissue boxes were dried, the children got creative painting their boxes in various colours and designs.
The K2 tissue box mails will be placed in the classroom throughout the term. Children are free to practice their writing skills by writing letters and posting them to their friends. At the end of the term, the children may bring their tissue box mails home and read the letters from their friends. It will serve as a nice memento for the K2 children to bring back at the end of their school year.
At the Numeracy table, the children were invited to fish out the keys in the rice field using magnets. They then chose a padlock with a matching answer and tried to unlock the padlock with the key. This Numeracy activity not only allowed the children to find answers to the different sums, they also get to practice their fine motor skills by inserting keys into padlocks and turning the keys in the correct direction to unlock the padlocks.
At the Language table, the children had fun playing with a Build-a-Word game board. Children took turns rolling the number die and the 4 words-ending dice . Using the letter in the space where the children landed their game piece on, they will try to form words by combining the letter as a beginning consonant with the 4 words-ending dice they have rolled. The children scored 1 point for every word they make.
At the sensory bin, the children pretended to build their own campfire using the round wood chips and sticks. They were also given small kids counters to explore with. The children used them by arranging the kids counters in a circle around the campfire that they have built.
Till the next post!
